Hydra 1.0.7 is out! Here is what I have to say to people who downloaded previous versions and send me their comments - Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Hydra is far from being a perfect software (is there a perfect software at all?), but I am putting 150% into making it such, and with this release we get one step closer to that. Without the help from the users, I am hopelessly lost in the countless lines of code. Hydra is about you, and made for you, so please don't hesitate to send your comments, suggestions, proposals, criticisms and whatever you may think of. I love positive feedback, but it's the criticism that makes me do more and make Hydra really a worthwhile experience. If you think you have a clever idea and you wish to make Hydra better (or you found a bug in it), then please go to Hydra voting gateway and express yourself (no ads there of any kind, and never will be;). You can actualy contribute to shaping the browser the way you want it. And yes, please don't forget that there is also a room for your proposals about Hydra Aid fund spending, so if you (or someone you know) has a child with special needs that needs financial help, you can post your case there (please don't vote there, as the decision to whom to donate the money from Hydra Aid won't be decided by voting).
Back to new release, what's in there worth mentioning:
- Added Web Gallery - browsing web has never been easier, now even your grandma can grasp the concept of Favorites...

- Support for ATOM documents in RSS reader
- Loading time cut in half (6-9 seconds for cold start, 3-5 seconds for warm starts)
- Installation file reduced to 14.5MB (from 22MB in previous version)
- AutoUpdate improved (button added at the top right corner that enables you to check for updates whenever you want to)
- Online help (well, at least few things are added for now, sorry folks)
- Support for additional mouse buttons (go back/forward)
- Middle mouse click on a link opens the link in a new tab
- Improved exception handling
- A lot of smaller improvements and bug corrections
Here are a few screenshot links for people that came here by accident, as well as for unbelievers who think that combination of browser and ribbons seems unnatural:
- Hydra with hidden ribbons and collapsed sidebar (just to see how much available workspace you can have, withou sacrificing the functionality)
- Hydra at its glory (sidebar and ribbons expanded - for those with a lot of screen estate :)
